Food and Cooking Recipe Search Engine

When looking for new recipes to try out, in addition to flipping through my many cookbooks, I often use the Google search engine to find recipes on the ‘net. The Google search engine has been my longtime favorite way to search the web, but sometimes the search results contain a lot of useless sites. What if we could use Google’s search to only search through sites that we know to be good? Well, we can! Google lets you create a custom search engine that will only search the sites that you want it to.

I’ve been playing with this exciting feature and created my own little food and cooking search engine. You can give it a try here. It’s far from complete, but with your help it can become the best place to search for recipes. You can help me improve this search engine by letting me know what your favorite food and recipe website is, so I can add it to the list of sites that are searched with this search engine.

So you’re not only a cooking dad, but a way cool techie dad too.

oh way cool for sure! ;)

haha .. I constantly use google as well. Tastespotting is another good site to search for specific key recipes or ingredients.

Thanks for the tip Jo! I’ve just included Tastespotting to the search engine.

I’d add in kingarthurflour.com into your search engine. The recipes are top notch professional, well explained, with alternate ingredients research. Very helpful. And not tons of adds.

Funny that you mention kingarthurflour.com, I just found the site yesterday while looking for some bread recipes. They sure have a lot of nice recipes on their site! Anyways, I’ve added it to the search engine, thanks for the tip!

That’s a great article never thought of looking there for different food recipes! Thanks.
